Dino van Rensburg
Congratulations to Dino van Rensburg, the young graduate who recently completed his BTech Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Johannesburg. His is an inspiring story of a young worker at General Motors in the city of Port Elizabeth who was mentored to study engineering by Ken Ramjee, an active ECSA committee member and volunteer.
Van Rensburg left the working field and registered for a Diploma in Electrical Engineering at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in 2009. He completed his three year diploma in 2011 and is now a proud graduate who says his family always motivated him to “be the best that he can be”.
His aunt, Felicia Gentle recalls moments when his nephew would be so exhausted and consumed by his studies that he would say “if you love your sleep, then engineering is the field for you”. His mentor couldn’t be more proud and says that “the future of our country depends on young people who think out of the box. I am very proud of Dino! It is uplifting to see someone you are mentoring succeed and grow,” says Ramjee.
Dino is currently working at EMSS Consulting in Stellenbosch as a regional co-ordinator. He believes that perseverance is the key that opens every door of achievements and endless possibilities.
Well done Dino, those sleepless nights have certainly proved your efforts much worthiness. We look forward to working with you as part of the Young Engineering Professionals team.
